Tupu students visited the Rangikapiti Pa Historic Reserve at Coopers Beach, Northland to undertake some practical learning in eco-sourcing seeds. Management of the reserve by the Department of Conservation includes vegetation and predator control with volunteer groups being involved in these activities. There are magnificent views over the Mangonui Harbour and Doubtless Bay with access to an early Māori Pa site on arrival at the reserve carpark.
The students spent some time walking through the reserve and identifying and learning about the range of native plant species that grow in the area and the importance and relevance of eco-sourcing.
