Gerard Wech 

Junior Sports Surfaces Solutions Advisor

Gerard joined NZSTI in 2025, assisting with our sports surfaces team in the upper North Island where he services councils, golf and bowling clubs. 

Prior to joining NZSTI, Gerard spent the last six years as a Groundsman, Leading hand and Sport Turf Technician at the Hamilton City Council, working on club football and cricket blocks around Hamilton City, providing training to apprentices and overseeing the daily tasks undertaken by the sports ground team. 
 

Gerard holds the following qualifications or accreditations that relate to his role: 

New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture Services (Sports Turf) (Level 4)

Unit Standard 4098 - Use standards to assess candidate performance
